If you keep getting this spamming your PHP error log, it is likely because PHP xcache was installed previously and then uninstalled, but its configuration files were not cleared out. This could have happened at an upgrade or when you chose a different cache system.
You can check if you have xcache installed by doing sudo dpkg -s php5-xcache | grep Status. If the status shows as "deinstalled" but with config files left, you can simply purge it with sudo apt-get remove --purge php5-xcache .
Then restart Apache: sudo service apache2 restart. Your error log should now be spam free.

I found another way to find the xcache spam. Helpful if after purging things remain. Run this command :
grep -Hrv ";" /etc/php5 | grep -i "xcache"It is helpful to find where the extension is loaded plus there is a directory named xcache-backup which never gets deleted with aptitude commands. It sucks huge memory if the extension remains somewhere. You might end up finding the extension was uncommented inside cgi php.ini or cli php.ini ! You need not even restart php, after commenting out if you run :
php -m | grep -i xcacheClean! Purge does not remove those bad things in uniform manner, sadly. Everyone loves xcache until get in to trouble.
